Who we are

We’re Norman and Dennis, two brothers and the heart of La Civetta. We welcome our guests, serve in and manage the restaurant, supported by our young team. We like to keep things simple: here, it’s the people, the good food and the atmosphere of our restaurant that count.

Our roots

How it all began

Our restaurant began as a challenge we took on and, over time, has become a landmark for people seeking genuine, tasty food. We’ve been running it since 2004 based on a simple concept: welcoming you, feeding you well and ensuring a simple, informal yet caring atmosphere.

Why “La Civetta”?

La Civetta, meaning ‘little owl’ (Athene noctua), is a symbol of wisdom linked to the goddess Athena. In Massimeno, the inhabitants are known as bégai, meaning owls or owlets in the local dialect. This is an ancient nickname: the little owl sees everything, stays out of sight, observes and has a wealth of stories to tell. For the village, it also signifies experience, memory and belonging to the mountains.

The Massimeno connection

Massimeno is the smallest municipality in Trentino, and La Civetta reflects its character: cosy, quiet and hospitable. The restaurant was born and grew up here, between forests and meadows, with a clientele of locals, regular visitors and travellers happy to return.

Present and future

La Civetta doesn’t live on nostalgia: each year, we grow, moves forward and innovate while maintaining a deep bond with the valley. The work here is done by people who show up every evening, with respect for those who come to dine and those who produce our ingredients.
